Hiring FAQs

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions in regards to our Hiring Process!

How long does it take once I'm offered a position?

Generally about two weeks depending on how quickly your background checks come back, and if your position requires a physical. This will be discussed with you in your offer letter and with HR when filling out your initial Livescan forms!

Is there a cost to getting my Backgrounds or Physical?

Not to you! The District absorbs all costs provided you are able to attend your appointments.

What do I need for Day One?

Make sure you have your documents for the I9 (Driver's License and Social Security Card are the most common), information on your bank account for Direct Deposit, pen & paper.

What benefits do I get as a part-time Seasonal employee?

We designate all employees who do not work a standard 52 week schedule as Seasonal employees. You receive 40 hours of sick pay after 90 days of employment, CTO if you go over 40 hours in a week, and access to our Employer Assistance Program.

But what about us Full-Time folks?

Full-time employees receive an option for fully covered family medical benefits, dental, and vision. At least 18K in life-insurance, with the option to self-purchase additional. Retirement through the SCERS program, access to the EAP, access to an additional 457 program, and, if the position requires, Distirct paid uniforms. Full-Time employees can earn Vacation (starting at 12 days per year) which caps at 400 hours, Sick leave (15 days per year), CTO or Admin Leave depending on the position, a personal leave day, and 14 District Holidays!
