About Carmichael Park Pool

The Carmichael Pool was constructed in 1952 and closed in 2004. During the pools existence over one million visitors participated in recreational swim and over 100,000 kids took swim lessons. The pool was 50 ft x 100ft and originally boasted a high board and low board. The depth of the pool ran from 3 1/2 ft to 12 ft.

2008 Restoration

Assessment Study

Due to the need for excessive repairs and concerns with the pool structure conforming to current code, and concerns for public safety, there is a need to remove and replace the pool. The current pool building does not meet ADA requirements and cannot accommodate necessary occupancy. Building assessment verifies that the existing building is nearing the end of its useful life, and it would be in the best interest of the District to build a pool building that will last as long as the pool.

CAPPS...Carmichael Aquatic and Park Project Update

CAPP committee has completed their task which was to study the feasibility of replacing the closed pool at Carmichael Park with a new swim facility. On March 18 the Committee recommended to the advisory Board the building of a new two pool complex and proposing to property owners a benefit assessment to finance the construction costs. District staff has provide the Advisory Board with a somewhat different recommendation. The Advisory Board plans to appoint a citizens committee from throughout the community to further analyze the alternatives. The committee will likely get underway this summer 2010 with final recommendations due tot he Advisory Board by the end of the year. Persons interested in serving on the committee should contact the District Administrator, Jack Harrison.
