Carmichael Recreation and Park District is a dependent special district of the County of Sacramento, 15 miles northeast of the state capitol in the beautiful central valley of California. Established in 1945, the District is charted by the County of Sacramento to manage park land and provide recreation opportunities to Carmichael and Sacramento County residents.
District boundaries enclose a population of approximately 45,000 residents and include 14 park sites with a total of 183 acres, including six fully developed parks, a large community center located at the former La Sierra High School, a botanical garden that is nearly 50 years old, and a 17-acre nature area.
Located within District 3 of the County of Sacramento, the County Board of Supervisors appoints a 4-5 member Advisory Board of Directors which serves as the executive decision-making body for the District. Board Members serve a term of 4 years and are eligible for renewal to one additional term.
